Le Plateau

Commissioned by the frac (fonds régional d’art contemporain) of the île-de-france department, this center was constructed as a result of the mobilization of artists for the creation of sociocultural spaces in this area of belleville (paris) that used to be the sfp (société française de production). The project consisted of creating a contemporary art center on the ground level of newly constructed residential buildings, using the space originally conceived for a small supermarket. An assemblage of walls and white surfaces suspended over a polished concrete floor, exposed beams and pipes on the ceiling, the ambiance of an esthetics laboratory involved with the city’s.
